inMaking videos go twice the speed
Within my video, I decided to add videos of projects I have worked on previous years. The aim is to be up beat and fast, so I decided to fasten the videos up because: 1) so they can have a ‘fast pace’ effect and 2) I could have the option shortening the video, however I don’t want the whole vide to take up most the time space, so fastening the speed of it will make the video shorted and have a better effect. I simply did this by right clicking on the layer, going to time>time stretch and then changing the stretch factor to 20. The lower the number presented , the faster the pace of the video.
Problems
When I uploaded the video from my phone onto youtube, the quality was perfect, crystal clear 1080p HD. However, when i imported it into After Effects, the quality was utterly pixleated and very poor. I tried many ways of importing it, trying to make the video as clear as possible, however it just wasn’t keeping its HD quality.
As you can see here, this is the quality how the video came out. I am not too happy with this quality. I tried sending the video via email to myself and the email will only allow me to send a certain amount of the video. I went on my ICloud drive and the video wouldn’t load. I even tried to upload it to google drive and wouldn’t work either and said ‘failed upload’. I uploaded the video onto Youtube and had to convert it into a mp4 vile which was fine, but when I put it in after effects it pixelated a lot.
Rotating brain with images
In one of my story boarding plots, i wanted to use a brain with words coming out of it explaining the things we undergo within the course. I chose these words because i feel that they represent digital communication design well.
Experimenting
I tried experimenting around with different features within After Effects. As you can see, there is a 3D channel in the side bar. I am not that confident at using 3D elements, however I have undergone 3D projects in the past and found this challenging but was a great success. As I was working with text at the time, I tried to add the Fog 3D and 3D channel Extract to the text. I wasn’t too sure what i was doing wrong but nothing seemed to be changing.

inI added these specific adobe programmes logos into the video because I am most confident with using them and specifically use them within my creative work. They are a big part within the graphic and digital design world and by working with these programmes on a day to day basis helps improve my skills using them. I am not too confident using After Effects, as making videos/animations is not one of my talents. However, I used quite a few online tutorials and played around in After effects to see some skills and what i can gain.
The above images are from previous work I have done in my second year. The future is now brief looks back on work you have done to reveal what the course is about and what you want to do. Initially, i was going to put my 3D assets in which I made in 3Ds Maxx however, I could not find the assets anywhere on my laptop as my laptop had been wiped and my blog had disappeared as well so I had no way of retrieving them which I was quite upset about.
WE ARE: DIGITAL COMMUNICATION DESIGN, is one of the courses identity name. As the design was quite bland and was used for last years degree students, I decided to add my own touch to it and change the font colour to a floral design. I used an image and put it as the background then used the magic wand tool and selected all the text, inverted the selection and deleted the selection from the background layer, which left me with the final design. I think this has added a personal touch to the name which I am happy about.

inStory boarding is a easy way to help plan the sequence of my movie. This helps me to structure and plan efficiently and make sure that I am not missing anything that I want to include. I find it may be a little time consuming however once it comes to making my movie, I’m not sat at the computer thinking “what shall I do next”, which will take up much more time. However, sometimes when I’m creating images or looking at my previous work, other ideas come to mind which can be beneficial to the briefs work and the story board is altered. I don’t like to stick to a solid structured storyboard because when other ideas spring to mind I like to alter and improve as I go along.
What will I put in my movie?
PRACTICE IN CLASS
This will be work that I have already created in previous years on the course, for example;
– 3D Environment Game: Video footage of the game being played on screen using quick time screen recording, 3D assets made in 3DS Max.

– Shape, Share, Play game: Video footage of the game being played.
– How to website: HTML & CSS coding using for the website
